About us

Since February 24th, over 5 million Ukrainians have fled abroad, and nearly 8 million are currently displaced within the country. More than 50% of citizens have lost their jobs, while only 2% were able to find new ones. In total, that constitutes a quarter of the Ukrainian population. Many cities have been destroyed, along with infrastructure that provided millions of workplaces.

When the war broke out, many people lost their income, often due to ongoing military actions in their cities or the death of their family members. Many businesses have closed for good due to logistical issues with supply chains, fleeing workers, or a simple lack of demand for their products.

Many Ukrainians have adapted, and are now cooking meals for people in need, sewing bulletproof vests, or making anti-tank obstacles out of dismantled billboards - and they run on donations from fellow Ukrainians and donors from other countries.

There are a great number of humanitarian organizations that are helping during this crisis with food and medicine, but there is still currently a lack of jobs that would help Ukrainian people replenish and support their economy in these difficult times. Many Ukrainians that had to leave their homes are looking for jobs, because they do not want to be somebody else’s burden.

Many Ukrainian women, including millions that have had to flee, rely fully or partially on their craftsmanship to financially support their family. Artists in Ukraine have lost all of their income, and many of them are either volunteering their time to help people in need, or working any jobs available to make ends meet.

Because of this, we have created a website where international buyers who want to support Ukrainian artists and creators can either purchase their work or request their services.

It is a simple site that has examples of the work the artist creates, their price range and links to the artists’ contact information. It also includes basic information about the artist, where they worked before the war, and where they are located now, and sometimes their experience during the war.

Basically, we are trying to provide help to people who do not have clients, exposure or customers right now. Social media is very saturated with Ukraine-related content, which can make it difficult for regular people to help because they simply don’t know where to start.

We have asked the artists to make it as simple as possible to browse their work that is available for purchase. The Ukrainian postal service has proved to be a reliable service, and continues to deliver and ship packages in and out of Ukraine despite the war. We neither facilitate the sales, nor take any commissions. Any expenses, like the site domain or advertisements, come out of our pocket. We will provide help with the language barrier for artists that are not fluent in English. We also provide detailed instructions, for both buyers and sellers, on safe methods of payment transfer.

Some artists, voluntarily and unprompted, are donating part of their income to humanitarian aid or the needs of the Ukrainian army, anywhere between 10 and 50 %.

To me it is a matter of personal importance, as I myself am a Ukrainian artist residing in Indianapolis, IN. I believe that it is important to support creators that are the voices of people fighting for freedom and justice.
